Red Carpet Makeup & Hair

ComiCon 2014 in San Diego brought with it many red carpet events and I was thrilled to work with cast members Luke Arnold, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Zach McGowen of Starz TV’s hugely popular series Black Sails.

Black Sails cast members Luke Arnold, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Zach McGowen make an appearance during ComiCon 2014 at the Outlander premier set to air Aug 8, 2014 on Starz TV.

Jessica Parker Kennedy at Entertainment Weekly’s annual ComiCon event on Saturday night at Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, Calif. She chose a dramatic smokey eye with a soft lip and loose chignon for the event.

Caught in the action myself while the cast makes a back door entrance at the SD ComiCon Panel!

Airbrush makeup was applied for Riviera Magazine article featuring Jodie Spanos co-chair of the 14th annual Junior League of San Diego Food and Wine Festival.

Jodie Spanos of Seaside Macarons in LaJolla, California called on airbrush makeup artist Paula Mayer to get her camera ready for her featured article in Riviera Magazine which showcases her participation in the 14th annual Junior League of San Diego Food & Wine Festival (jlsdfoodandwine.com) on May 3rd.

 

Jodie Spanos along with business partners Amanda Wheeler and Melissa Micou run Seaside Macarons from their office in LaJolla, California and offer such delectable varieties as raspberry, pistachio, key lime and espresso just to name a few.  They are all gluten free and made from high quality almond flour for a delicious treat for your next party, baby shower, wedding …or just because.

Face Talk beauty tip: How to be the best “you” in photographs.

For several days before your session avoid salty foods and alcohol which can dehydrate skin and cause puffy eyes, which will not make the camera fall in love with you.  Exfoliate skin several times the week prior and wear a moisturizing mask to bed.  Now is not the time to experiment with new products.   Get plenty of water and fruits and vegetables in your diet.  Have eyebrows shaped and groomed 1 to 2 days before if tweezing or 1 week before if waxing.  Wax removes even the tiniest hairs causing the makeup to lay down differently.  Exfoliate lips by applying Vaseline for several minutes then remove with rough wash cloth or soft toothbrush.

Think of a professional makeup artist as insurance for those special days when you want to look your best!
